Description
This Realistic Edible Blood is a spooky and fun treat to add to your Halloween festivities! It’s perfect for decorating cakes, cupcakes, and even using as a dip, with a rich, deep red color and realistic texture!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup light clear corn syrup (like Karo)
- 6 drops whitener (a type of white gel food coloring)
- 2 drops burgundy gel food color
- 18 drops red gel food color
- A splash of flavored extract (optional, like strawberry for a sweet twist)
Instructions
- Pour 1/4 cup of light clear corn syrup into a small mixing bowl. This will be your base for the blood.
- Add 6 drops of whitener (white gel food coloring) to tone down the syrup’s intensity and give it a more blood-like appearance.
- Next, add 2 drops of burgundy gel food coloring and 18 drops of red gel food coloring. Stir to create a rich, deep red blood color.
- Optional: Add a splash of flavored extract, like strawberry or raspberry, for a sweet twist. Stir it in for a fruity flavor.
- If the blood is too thick, add a little water to thin it out. For thicker blood, add more corn syrup until you reach the desired consistency.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks, and stir before use if it thickens too much.
Notes
Consistency matters, so adjust it to your needs! If it looks too bright, add more burgundy to darken it. Keep refrigerated and it’s good for up to two weeks!
