Description

This Gluten Free Stuffing is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and full of classic holiday flavor. Family-approved, easy to make, and perfect for Thanksgiving or any cozy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12–14 oz.) loaf gluten-free bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced or diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, ghee, or melted butter
  • ½1 teaspoon fresh rosemary
  • ½1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • ¼½ teaspoon dried sage
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 egg
  • Optional: 4–6 oz cooked crumbled sausage
  • Optional: 1 small apple, diced
  • Optional: ¼–½ cup dried cranberries or cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 50–60 minutes until dried out but not browned. Let cool completely.
  2. Increase oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 2-quart baking dish. Use a 9×13 dish if doubling the recipe.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, heat oil or butter. Sauté onion, celery, and apple (if using) for 6–8 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute. Season with rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  4. If adding sausage or dried fruit, stir them in now. In a large bowl, combine dried bread cubes and veggie mixture.
  5. In another bowl, whisk broth and egg. Slowly pour over stuffing mix, folding gently until moist but not soggy.
  6. Transfer to prepared baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until golden and crisp.
  7. Serve warm. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days. Reheat in oven or microwave.

Notes

Use your favorite gluten-free bread and dry it fully for best texture. To make dairy-free, use olive oil or ghee instead of butter. Make ahead by prepping everything and baking just before serving.
